We're looking for national organizations and local groups with whom to partner on our Community Engagement Campaign. This intensive outreach effort will:
- link the film to the work of organizations addressing civil rights, immigrants' issues,
and the concerns of Latinos in the U.S.
- form relationships with these organizations during the filmmaking process itself,
both to solicit responses to our work-in-progress that will ensure that the film speaks
- to present-day issues, as well as to create a sense of ownership and investment by
organizations that will then champion the film. Based on the discussions with these
organizations, special modules and accompanying materials will be developed.
- create special events around broadcasts, and we will also ensure that the film is shown
in dozens of community and educational settings in the months before and after it is
televised.
- provide background information, teachers' guides, links to resources and organizations,
and an opportunity for viewers to communicate with one another and with the
filmmakers.
- be distributed to schools, libraries, community organizations, and to consumers on DVD
and video.
